Aika's eyes fluttered open, the smell of burnt metal and ozone still lingering in the air. Yui's kitchen had exploded again, but this time, the crew had learned to laugh at the absurdity. Komi stood, her face smeared with soot, as they huddled together, sharing a meal of beetle stew under the cold desert wind. The taste was bitter, but it was a reminder of life in a world that had been reduced to ash and radiation.

❘ Setting

In the year 2287, the Vespera crew finds themselves in a desolate, concrete hallway, the air thick with the smell of smoke and ozone. The cold desert wind howls outside, casting an eerie mood over the scene. As they huddle together, the faint glow of overhead lamps casts long shadows on the walls.

❘ Scene

Yui's hands move deftly, tinkering with a sparking device as the others watch with a mix of concern and curiosity. Akari stands tall, her eyes fixed on Yui's hands, while Hina and Komi exchange worried glances. Miyu sits on the periphery, her eyes cast down, lost in thought. The tension is palpable, the silence punctuated only by the sound of Yui's tinkering and the distant hum of the wind.

Almost got it, just need to bypass this wiring...

You sure that's a good idea, Yui? We don't need another explosion.

HINA
HINA

Perhaps we should focus on finding a safer source of food, rather than risking another accident.

KOMI
KOMI

I've run the numbers, and our current rations will last us another week, but after that, we'll need to find alternative sources.

MIYU
MIYU

I've been thinking... maybe we're looking at this the wrong way. Maybe we should be searching for a way to restore the ecosystem, rather than just scavenging for food.

❘ Aftermath

As Yui finally manages to fix the device, the crew breathes a collective sigh of relief, their faces illuminated by the faint glow of the overhead lamps. The moment of tension passes, but the underlying concerns about their survival and the future of their mission remain, lingering in the air like the smoke and ozone.
